Even those who don’t like Mason Mount as a player or think it was a mistake to sign the former academy player at Chelsea for a solid £55 million, can feel sorry for the 26-year-old. Since the summer of 2023, the midfielder has not warmed up in the United shirt. Injuries, lack of match form and Ten Hag’s lack of confidence and play have ensured that. Then came the change to Ruben Amorim, the change came immediately, where Mount showed he fits very well into Amorim’s formation and game. Not many weeks later, Mount was out with a new injury. Now he is finally back.
Mount has not been on the pitch since December 15, on Wednesday was the first training session with the rest of the team, a sure sign that the rehabilitation and training after the injury has gone well.
We remember the first day of Ruben Amorim when he walked around and greeted every single player at Carrington. There was one picture of the meetings that stood out. Mason Mount with a wide grin and embraced in a hearty hug with his new coach. No doubt from both sides that these are two guys who know they fit together.
Then we are very much looking forward to Mount returning to the match arena and being able to show he can make a difference in the United shirt. At Amorim, he has the opportunity.
