It’s not just for Antony that the nightmare is over. The £85 million price tag and Erik Ten Hag’s “must-have player” in 2022 without coming close to defending the price, have made this signing a true football nightmare for United and the supporters. Hours before the transfer window, it is finally resolved, but it oozes desperation on United’s part.
On Saturday, Real Betis announced they had withdrawn their bid for Antony, the financial package was unpalatable for the La Liga club. Antony was the top signing for Betis after 9 goals and 5 assists in 26 games in the green and white shirt on loan, but that was the limit.

According to The Athletic, a deal has finally been agreed that will once again see the 25-year-old play for Betis, this time on a permanent transfer. United take a big loss on the Brazilian with a transfer fee of €25 million. but have no choice, Rules sustainable and profitable club operations must be met this summer.
There is still a potential upside for United. According to the English media, a 50 percent resale clause has been negotiated in the contract. In other words, a potential extra income for United if Antony is sold, as well as a potential €3 million bonus if Antony achieves certain goals for Betis.
