The Manchester United star could finally have his dream of a permanent move to Barcelona fulfilled, only to be sold immediately.
Barcelona are reportedly considering exploiting interest in Manchester United star Marcus Rashford by buying him, and then immediately selling him on to another club.

After months on the sidelines at his childhood club Manchester United, Rashford secured a dream transfer to Barcelona when he was loaned to the Spanish giants for the 2025/26 season.
Included in Rashford’s loan deal, which saw Barcelona pay 100% of his weekly salary of £315,000, was an option for Barcelona to make the transfer permanent for a specified sum of around £26 million.
Given his impressive form since arriving in La Liga, it has been widely reported that both Barcelona and Rashford are keen to make the partnership permanent, and the Spanish club are reportedly looking to secure the deal before the end of the season.
However, it is now claimed that even if Barcelona were to sign Rashford on a permanent contract, the club could plan to sell him just weeks later.
Since his move to Barcelona, Rashford has made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists.
The Englishman has established himself as a reliable player for Barcelona, despite the club having an abundance of attacking talent such as Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and prodigy Lamine Yamal.
His form at the Spanish giants has obviously attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, and according to Football365, Barcelona could take advantage of this this summer.
The report claims that Barcelona have recently held meetings with United in an attempt to renegotiate the purchase option, as the sum and Rashford’s salary are said to be too expensive for the Spanish club.
Barcelona are still keen to keep Rashford, but only on the right terms, and with United now set to value the Englishman at around £20m more than the purchase option, they are not willing to give up.
The Spanish league champions have even questioned extending his loan spell, but United are only willing to consider transfer offers for the 28-year-old.
With that in mind, it is claimed that Barcelona are considering triggering the purchase option in the loan deal and then capitalizing on a transfer offer that is closer to United’s new valuation of the player.
The report adds that there are already some suitors who could be willing to offer as much as €60 million (£52 million) for Rashford, which would allow Barcelona to quickly double their money if they were to buy and then sell the striker.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a deal between United and Barcelona that would see him stay at the Nou Camp is still a possibility.
In his YouTube channel, he stated: “Marcus Rashford’s situation is still open before the summer.
“Barcelona are very happy with his performance and attitude under Hansi Flick and want to keep him permanently.
“There is a purchase option set at €30 million, but Barcelona prefers to negotiate the price with Manchester United.
“The financial part is crucial, not only the transfer fee, but also Rashford’s salary structure in a long-term contract.
“Talks between the clubs and discussions about salary terms will determine whether a permanent agreement can be reached.”
