The Real Madrid coach has been linked with a resignation following the team’s exit from the Champions League.

Carlo Ancelotti’s future has taken a dramatic turn, as he is now considering a surprising new job despite strong rumours that he would take over the Brazilian national team.

After Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League against Arsenal earlier this month, rumours began to circulate that Ancelotti would leave his position as the club’s manager at the end of the season.

It is still unclear where the Italian coach will end up next, but he has been heavily linked with the job as Brazil’s national team coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America.

But now a new report has linked Ancelotti to a surprising new role and cast serious doubts on the claims that he would take over Brazil.

Previous reports suggested that Ancelotti would part ways with Real Madrid shortly after the Copa del Rey final against rivals Barcelona.

But now this doesn’t seem to be true, as Ancelotti is still in charge of Real Madrid after the 3-2 loss to Hansi Flick’s side – leaving questions about his future at the club unanswered.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, this is due to Ancelotti changing his mind at the last minute to accept Brazil after travelling to London on Monday to sign his contract with the five-time world champions.

Despite initially confirming that he would sign the contract on Tuesday, Marca reports that Ancelotti has now decided not to take over as Brazil’s national team coach and has informed Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the Brazilian Football Federation, of his decision.

Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season

Instead, it is now believed that Ancelotti could stay at Real Madrid through the Club World Cup, and will not take on a new job until August. It is said that he is considering a huge offer to train in the Saudi Pro League.

The Saudi Arabian contract will reportedly give the 65-year-old coach a staggering sum of €50 million (about £42 million) per season – making him the world’s highest-paid coach ever.

Later reports from SportsZone claim that Al Hilal is the Saudi Arabian club chasing Ancelotti’s signature. They hope to use him as a key to persuade Madrid star Vinicius Jr to join them in a deal worth a billion euros this summer.

An idea that also came to the surface again in recent days was to make an offer to teammate Jude Bellingham.
