“A brilliant defender and a great leader. He’s going to be a top player for us and he’s got both the character and the attitude a United player should have,” Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer boasted about the former academy player. Axel Tuanzebe rose through the ranks in the United academy, playing 37 games for the first team, a total of 17 years at the club. Then Tuanzebe left United in 2023, remembered for injuries but also for controlling Kylian Mbappé in the 2020 Champions League match against PSG. Now Tuanzebe is suing his old club.

United did not refer him to a spinal surgeon, instead Tuanzebe was back on the pitch in March where he played for United’s U21 team in the Premier League 2.
Tuanzebe believes, via the court documents, that the club treated his back injury incorrectly and thus permanently damaged his career. The defender believes United neither dealt with the injury “quickly nor correctly” and that he is affected by this to this day.
