Few expected Ruben Amorim to lead Manchester United to victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but the 1-0 defeat will still be another winless game. With less than three months to go until the start of the next Premier League season, Amorim have not led United to victory in the league since March 16. Sean Dyche believes this is the Portuguese’s big problem – which could get him sacked in the autumn.
Sean Dyche showed at Burnley and last season at Everton that he is the coach the bigger clubs dread meeting. With Dyche on the sidelines, the team always goes into the game as it should have been the last one. The English manager has never been accused of serving entertaining and finely crafted football, for Dyche it has been about winning against clubs that have a better starting point.

Ruben Amorim has lacked this quality in the world’s toughest league, where establishing the long-term game that will give United success is prioritized, rather than winning the game at all costs.
-He (Amorim) has to win games – pretty quickly. I think if I went there (to United) and played my way, we would win more games. Just 4-4-2 and provide players with basic rules and principles. They have some good players. You don’t have to ‘overteach’ everyone,” Dyche begins in the podcast Stick to Football.
“I would be surprised if Amorim wasn’t put under pressure early next season. Give him time this season, even if there are doubts. He lays out his platform for the future. Then, in the pre-season, he has had to swap in and out some players in the squad. If it doesn’t work out early next season, how long should we wait (before he is sacked)?, says the coach who is clearly hoping for a phone call from Manchester United in early autumn.
