Liverpool fans are genuinely sad these days and after the loss to Nottingham Forest, which has not made anything work this season, they are now only talking about the good old days. What most people say about manager Arne Slot, who won the Premier League last season, is that he “inherited” a perfectly balanced and powerful team from German maestro Jürgen Klopp.
The proof should lie in this year’s season, where Arne Slot’s ideas and tactics (lacking) have gained a foothold.

Arne Slot is under pressure after a record-breaking home defeat to Nottingham Forest, while the thought of a return for Jürgen Klopp seems more likely to the bookmakers as well.
A former Premier League boss could be on his way to Liverpool if the club decides to sack Arne Slot after a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest. Liverpool have only one win from their last seven league games.
The defeat leaves Liverpool in the bottom half of the table after 11 games, despite spending £450 million on new players in the summer transfer window.
It has been a dramatic collapse for Slot’s team, who were pre-favourites to win the series before the season started.
Although Liverpool are expected to be patient with the Dutchman, who won the league in his first season, the pressure on the boss is increasing. Now it has emerged that Jürgen Klopp is the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Slot.

The German spent almost nine seasons in charge of Liverpool, and during that time he won every major trophy available.
He stepped down as Liverpool boss in 2024 on the grounds that he was “starting to run out of energy”.
Since then, he has taken on a role as Global Head of Football for Red Bull, overseeing the strategy of their network of clubs.
But during an appearance last month on The Diary of a CEO, he did not rule out a return to Liverpool.
Klopp revealed: “I said I will never coach another team in England, so that means if [I returned], then it’s Liverpool.”
“So, yes, theoretically it’s possible.”
Replacements for Arne Slot
Although Klopp is currently the favourite at 4/1, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is not far behind at 5/1.
The Austrian has experience in winning trophies, having won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt and won the FA Cup last year with Crystal Palace.
Glasner also has an excellent record recently against Liverpool, having beaten them in each of the previous three meetings.
The third favourite for the job is another current Premier League manager, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.
The Spaniard led Bournemouth to an impressive ninth-place finish last season and was praised for their attacking style of play.
Despite losing their goalkeeper and three defenders in the summer transfer window, Bournemouth have had another strong start to the season.
Other possible candidates for the job include Unai Emery, Julian Nagelsmann and Diego Simeone.
