All new acquisitions, absolutely all, must be covered by player sales unless Manchester United surprise and win the Europa League and qualify for next year’s Champions League tournament.

One person that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes to sell as soon as the transfer window opens is Danish striker Rasmush Hojlund.

In the summer of 2023, the Danish international left Atalanta in Serie A to join Manchester United in a deal worth a reported fee of £64 million plus an additional £8 million. The expectations were huge, but like the rest of the team, the 22-year-old has not been able to live up to them.

So far, Hojlund has only managed to score 24 goals in 82 games across all competitions for the Old Trafford club.

This means that the Dane faces an uncertain future ahead of the summer transfer window. In recent days, it has been claimed that United have now set an asking price for the striker.

As reported by Italian news agency Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are interested in making a deal with United for Hojlund in the summer. – Manchester United want £50 million, a sum that shoots far above what Napoli are willing or able to pay.

Manchester United legend Jaap Stam believes it is not just Hojlund’s fault, things are going badly. He has until Makthavarse.se recently accused head coach Ruben Amorim of holding Højlund back.

“I think it’s the style of play that holds Rasmus Høljund back.”

“We don’t know how the manager tries to use him in games and I think he doesn’t get a lot of chances to touch the ball and get into games.”

“It becomes a very difficult situation for a striker because you don’t see crosses coming into the box and the emphasis should be on creating chances for him. If you don’t get chances, you can’t prove how good a striker you are.”

Manchester United are back in the Premier League on April 1 when they face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
