Mohamed Salah could be closer to leaving Liverpool than ever, as a club has reportedly entered talks to sign the star player this summer.

Ever since Liverpool star Salah attacked manager Arne Slot after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road in December, the winger has been rumoured to be on his way out of the club.

In recent years, there have been several instances when it felt like Salah could end his legendary time at Anfield, with many believing he could have left last summer before signing a new two-year contract with the club in April.

Before that, Salah was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al Ittihad remarkably making a bid of £150 million for his signature in 2023.

But it looks like Salah’s departure could now be closer than ever, as the Egyptian striker’s agent is reportedly holding talks to secure him a transfer this summer.

It has long been known that the Saudi Pro League is desperate to convince Salah, the greatest Muslim player in the world, to join a club in the competition.

Last year, Salah was reportedly completely against the idea, as he wanted to remain at a top European club for the foreseeable future, which led to him signing a new Liverpool contract.

However, it now looks like the Saudi Arabian league could finally get its top goal, as French website FootMercato has revealed that Salah has asked his representatives to move forward with negotiations for a move to Al Ittihad in the summer.

The report claims that Salah is now much more open to a move to Saudi Arabia and the transfer could satisfy all parties, with Salah receiving a good salary while Liverpool will receive a transfer fee.

At the same time, the transfer couldn’t have been more perfect for Al Ittihad, who lost both their star players in Karim Benzema, who left for Al Hilal, and N’Golo Kanté, who was sold to Fenerbahce, in January.

At the same time, the summer is expected to be just as turbulent for the Saudi Arabian club, as Fabinho’s contract expires in June, while Moussa Diaby has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.

With Salah’s contract expiring in 2027 and a further extension of his deal almost certainly off the table, Liverpool cannot expect a similar offer from Al Ittihad to the £150 million three years ago.

Instead, a report by Caught Offside has claimed that Liverpool would be willing to accept an offer of as little as €30 million for the 33-year-old in the summer.

The report claims that Liverpool will not stand in the way of the transfer, hoping to cash in on Salah while he still retains some value.
