Michael Carrick has been tapped in as the new Manchester United manager. It is equally certain that the United legend will not lead the Red Devils next season. United boss Jim Ratcliffe has in turn sent Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim to the gate at Old Trafford. Now there is great excitement related to who will be appointed to lead one of the world’s biggest clubs from the 2026/27 season.

A lot from a financial perfective is about the Champions League and the mission is clear no matter who takes over. But then games have to be won and they are played every week. – It will be extra exciting if you place a bet before a match. At Norwegian betting sites, you will find the best opportunities to increase the excitement and at the same time get the best deals.

Former Man Utd coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was considered as interim United coach, but demanded more. The Norwegian wanted to be part of the club’s long-term investment. Carrick settled for five months of effort – and got the job. In parallel with Carrick leading United, intense work is being done to find – and convince – the best candidate to lead the club back to greatness.

United legend Gary Neville stated in the podcast “”Stick to Football”, that United have tried everything when it comes to finding the right manager, absolutely everything. Now the club just has to try to reduce the risk. For Neville, “mitigating risk” means finding a coach who can handle the media, clean up the dressing room, deal with the owners, play a type of football that fans will at least enjoy watching, has Champions League experience and has experience from big games. For the United legend, there are three candidates who stand out: Thomas Tuchel, Carlo Ancelotti and Mauricio Pochettino.

England national team coach Tuchel and United States national team coach Pochettino have both previously been heavily linked to the job as Manchester United coach. According to German Sky Sports , before the choice fell on Ruven Amorim, Tuchel even turned down the opportunity to lead the Red Devils.

The English media have over the past month highlighted two other coaches as the strongest candidates to get the coaching job at United: Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace and Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth.

Glasner is highlighted by various English media as the top candidate. With his contract expiring at Crystal Palace in the summer, many have been waiting to see what the German does. Extend, or make himself available to a bigger club. Sky Sports reports Glasner has let Palace management know he has decided to leave the London club at the end of the season to “seek a new challenge”.

This coincides with Manchester United hiring their new coach. Glasner led Palace to the FA Cup title last season, 12th place in the Premier League, beat Liverpool in this summer’s Community Shield, started the Premier League season as one of the top five clubs, but has lost some of the pace in the world’s toughest league. Then came the “FA Cup surprise of all time”, where Crystal Palace with Oliver Glasner at the helm were knocked out of the cup by 6th division club Macclesfield Town.

The search for Manchester United’s next big coach continues.
