The highly anticipated debut for the England national team came in September under interim coach Lee Carsley. Angel Gomes has worked his way up the system at Manchester United, but never played his way into the first team. Four years after his exit from Old Trafford, Liverpool have placed their scouts in the stands to follow the 24-year-old.

Gomes was brilliant at youth level, but he barely got any first-team time under Solskjaer. He was limited to just six Premier League games in his final season at Old Trafford. – While peers like Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams got plenty of playing time.
The manager at the time, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, was aware of the talent, but had his struggles in the spring of 2020. The club worked intensely to get rid of Alexis Sánchez’s gigantic salary and He had to deal with the Glazer family’s needs which were about everything but football.
When Angel Gomes left Old Trafford on a free exit to Lille in the summer of 2020, it was with the knowledge that anything but Manchester United would be better for the budding talent.
English attacking midfielder Angel Gomes has grown up since leaving Manchester United.
There was some talk of a transfer in the summer, but Angel’s style of play and temperament did not suit manager Erik ten Hag. Ruben Amorim, on the other hand, loves what he sees. Transfermarkt has steadily increased Angel Gomes’ valuation since he left Old Trafford.
Gomes has worn the Lille shirt since 2020 (minus a loan spell with Portuguese side Boavista) and gone a little under the radar of the English media – and former national team coach Gareth Southgate. Carsley saw no reason to keep the attacking midfielder out of the national team, playing time first came in the Nations League against Ireland and Finland.

Rúben Amorim, who has just taken over as manager, is behind the possible transfer, as he is said to have admired Gomes for a long time.
But United could be challenged by Tottenham for the midfielder’s signature.
“There will always be a sentimental feeling, so of course it would be difficult to say no (to Man United),” Gomes has previously replied to the question of return.
