The blue-grey defender delivers strong performances in the end of the season as a right-back.

Eric García has become a hot name in this summer transfer window. After an outstanding season under Hansi Flick, three clubs have already turned their attention to the Catalan defender: Italian side Como, Girona and Real Sociedad.

The idea of a sale is gaining traction at FC Barcelona, who are seriously considering making room for new reinforcements.

The 23-year-old has had a breakthrough year: 44 games, five goals, three assists and the ability to play both as a centre-back, full-back and in midfield. His development has been one of the positive surprises of the season, and although Flick has expressed a desire to keep him, Barcelona’s board is considering a possible sale if an attractive offer is made.

Como’s interest, led by Cesc Fàbregas, is not new. They tried this winter, and now they are back with full force. Girona, where Eric impressed on loan, also want to bring him back and are willing to pay around €20 million. Real Sociedad, seeking an all-round defensive reinforcement, completes the trio of stakeholders.

From Barcelona’s perspective, a sale at these sums would not only strengthen the financial situation, but also free up space for new players. Nevertheless, the door to a renewal remains open if the negotiations do not bear fruit.

Barcelona, who won this year’s La Liga trophy, are aiming even higher for next season.
