When the opponent’s manager expresses that he feels sorry for his colleague Thomas Frank at Tottenham, then you are far down the spiral in terms of results. Eddie Howe first sunk Tottenham at their home ground, then came the “feel sorry” comment. Howe knows what it means to have a bunch of players out on the injury bench, but for Spurs supporters, another Premier League defeat, the 11th so far of the season, is completely unforgivable. There has been a lot of singing from supporters for Pochettino’s return, this did not stop on Monday against Newcastle.

After the game, Thomas Frank was asked the usual question: “Are you afraid of being fired?”. Frank was prepared for this to come, and could show full confidence from the management.

“I will work day and night to turn it around, but it’s not just one person. There is no doubt that we want to improve, and I want to be a part of it,” said the Dane.

Who, of course, got the pipe concert from their own supporters.

“I understand the frustration. It has built up a bit; last season it was a bit the same with playing in Europe and the Premier League. We must be resilient, mentally and physically. I’m 100% sure it’s a team effort, and it’s not just one person. We are all aligned and know what needs to be done, says Frank offensively.

Tottenham supporters are singing for Pochettino’s return, the Argentine himself is keeping the door wide open for this. Still, with only months before the World Cup finals on home soil, Pochettino is not available to save the Premier League season for his old club. The supporters will probably have to rely on Thomas Frank, five poor points above the relegation line. The club owners still haven’t pressed the panic button.
