Not many weeks after Ruben Amorim took charge of the United team, the Portuguese was asked about Antony. The former Sporting coach didn’t take long for the answer to come: Nothing wrong with the technicalities, it’s a lack of confidence. After sending Antony away from United, where the Brazilian immediately delivers to the nomination as one of five for the La Liga Player of the Month award, many wonder if this could also have happened at Amorim.
The United manager is of course asked the question after Antony’s big plays, goals and assists, while Manchester United have struggled to produce from the right wing.
After four months with the world’s toughest league on the ball island, Amorim believes he has the explanation.
“When you play against any club in England, they are very physical. If you’re not physical, you’re going to struggle a lot with it. Antony is much better off in Spain now. It’s because of a lot of things, but I guarantee that physique is a factor,” Amorim told TNT Sports.
