FK Haugesund acknowledges that the savings knife that the club had to take out this winter has not exactly been a positive contribution towards this year’s season, but still, when things have turned out the way they have, it is time to invest in something new.

Head coach Sanjeeb Manoharan finished in Haugesund after failing results.

FK Haugesund is already looking the ghost of relegation in the eye

FK Haugesund confirms that the Danish coach must leave the position with immediate effect. The decision comes after Haugesund have only managed to secure one point from their first nine league games, which puts them at the very bottom of the table.

Club: “Required to take action”

General manager Martin Fauskanger says to the club’s website:
– It is always painful to have to part ways with skilled and good people. But the results this season indicate that we need to bring in new impulses to reverse the trend.

Manoharan himself thanks for his time at the club:
“I am grateful for the opportunity I have been given both as academy manager and later as head coach. I have met many great people and had some educational years in Haugesund. I think the club will come back stronger.

Background for the departure

Manoharan took over as head coach in May 2024 after serving as both interim head coach and assistant coach. Sunday’s 0-2 loss against Brann was his last game in the standings.

First team coach Paul André Farstad is also leaving his position as part of the restructuring.

Fauskanger emphasizes that financial challenges have affected the situation:
– We are all aware that Sanjeeb has had to deal with a tough financial situation, but given where we are now, these are necessary measures to ensure FK Haugesund’s competitiveness going forward.

The club has now initiated the search for a new head coach who can reverse the team’s negative development.
