Manchester United are going back to being one of the very best clubs in the world. – Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has a clear idea that they need one of the world’s very best and experienced managers to make it happen. At the top of that list is Spanish manager Luis Enrique. Manchester United also have Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, USA manager Mauricio Pochettino and (amazingly) England manager Thomas Tuchel high on their wish lists.
All four will park a wish from Michael Carrick if they say yes in time.
Brilliant Luis Enrique!
After Paris Saint-Germain hired ex-Spain manager Luis Enrique rather than a return to Barcelona in 2023, it changed the history of the French big club. – He stopped the “strategy” of blind buying of superstars such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar and built a team that not only continued to dominate in France, but they are also the reigning Champions League champions.
Luis Enrique has also led Ousmane Dembélé to become the world’s best footballer in 2025. In addition, PSG star Vitinha was ranked third for the Ballon d’Or award.

Manchester United have hired Michael Carrick as manager for the rest of the season after making a mistake by hiring Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and most recently Ruben Amorim. – Although Michael Carrick has now delivered 4 straight wins in the Premier League, he does not have consistency over a long period of time and the necessary experience. His last job as manager of Middlesbrough was at the second tier (in the Championship where things eventually went badly) and he has never been in the Champions League as a manager.
Manchester United have already been in contract with Luis Enrique’s people over a possible transfer. His club Paris Saint-Germain is a bit bothered by only having a contract until next summer and is eager for an extension. The signals from the French capital are that he will get a unique deal with no closing date and with an insane salary.
The Daily Mirror reports as one of several media outlets that Luis Enrique has made his choice. Manchester United have been told that this is not an option and that he will negotiate a contract extension with PSG.
Enrique reportedly doesn’t see United as the right project for himself and he feels like the yolk in the egg where he is. “The only thing that could possibly tempt him away from Paris at some point would have to be a return to Barcelona or a quieter life as national team manager of Spain.
