Barcelona’s sporting director Deco aims to strengthen the team with young players of high quality and great talent.

FC Barcelona continues to scout the market for young talent who fit the club’s football philosophy, and one of the names that has gained traction in recent months is Rodrigo Mora. The 18-year-old striker from FC Porto has attracted the interest of several top clubs in Europe after a spectacular start to the season under Martín Anselmi, where he has already scored 10 goals in the league.

Deco, Barcelona’s current sporting director, did not hide his admiration for the young Portuguese player during his participation at the International Congress in Matosinhos, where he was asked directly about the player. Although he avoided openly discussing possible market movements, the former Portuguese international hinted that Mora is highly valued by Barcelona’s sporting management. “He’s a special player. It’s impressive to see someone his age take such a pivotal role at a club like Porto,” he commented.

The price is too high for Barcelona
According to the newspaper Sport, Rodrigo Mora has recently extended his contract with the Portuguese club until 2030 – an automatic extension that came into effect when he came of age. In addition, the club has set a buyout clause of 70 million euros, with the aim of maximizing profits on a possible sale. Porto are aware that it will be difficult to keep the promising striker in the long term, and are already planning to exploit his potential in the transfer market.

Deco, who knows Porto’s environment well, also commented on the club’s situation, which he described as “undergoing transformation”, and expressed confidence that they will be able to rebuild in a good way. Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to monitor Mora’s development, and he could become a priority in future transfer windows.
