Former Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga (23) surprisingly left Spain and Europe to play for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023. Since then, he has scored 12 goals and made 10 assists in 66 games.

André Villas-Boas, who has previously been the manager of clubs such as Tottenham, Chelsea and Marseille, has as president of Porto set aside sufficient funds this summer to lift the club up from the 3rd place they have “struggled” with in recent seasons. The first visible sign of a summer that will be active is the purchase of Gabri Veiga.

Now it is clear that Veiga is making a comeback in Europe.

On Thursday evening, Portuguese giants Porto announced that Veiga is signing a contract that lasts until the summer of 2030. Porto also confirms that the transfer fee is 15 million euros in addition to a bonus package worth four million euros.

In the past, the 23-year-old has been linked with big clubs such as Manchester City and Real Madrid, but now games await at a slightly lower level in the form of the Portuguese top division.
