The guys with the thickest football glasses in the CIES Football Observatory have calculated who the 100 best goalkeepers in the world are using advanced models free of sight.

We just let ourselves be carried away without coming up with our own opinions. But we have the feeling that Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is high on the list after hearing what Nemanja Matic has said.

The top three are Paris St-Germain’s Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Inter’s Swiss keeper Yann Sommer and Real Madrid’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Two players from outside the five biggest European leagues are in the top ten: young Russian Stanislav Agkatsev (FK Krasnodar) and Brazilian veteran João Ricardo (Fortaleza EC). These two goalkeepers have the highest save percentage (based on Wyscout data) compared to expectations given the team’s goals conceded.

The average age of goalkeepers on the top 100 list is 29.8 years. The oldest are Remko Pasveer (AFC Ajax) with 41.4 years, while the youngest are Ármin Pécsi (Puskás Akadémia) with 20.1 years and Sławomir Abramowicz (Jagiellonia Białystok) with 20.8 years. Apart from Agkatsev, Djordje Petrović (RC Strasbourg, on loan from Chelsea) is the only under-26 in the top 20.

Best in the Premier League is Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, best in the Bundesliga is TB Leipzig goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi
