The Swedish striker wants to leave Sporting CP this summer to play for a more prestigious club.
Viktor Gyökeres could soon be one of the big transfers this summer. Sporting Lisbon have decided to accept a transfer of the Swedish striker if they receive a concrete offer: 60 million euros guaranteed plus 10 million euros in bonuses. In other words, the total transfer fee must reach 70 million euros for the Portuguese club to give the go-ahead for his departure.

With 45 goals in only 41 games last season, the Nordic striker has aroused interest from several of European football’s big clubs. Among them, Arsenal and Manchester United are following his situation closely. Both clubs need to strengthen the attacking line and see in Gyökeres a striker with physical strength, goal flair and development potential. The Premier League appears to be the ideal next step for him.

Gyökeres wants to leave Sporting CP
So far, Lisbon has kept a hard line, with no intention of lowering the requirements to release their top scorer. But the player’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has changed the picture. As he stated, Sporting has a formally committed promise to ease the Swedish player’s transfer once the agreed sum is reached – putting direct pressure on the Portuguese club’s management.
This new situation suggests weeks of intense negotiations. Even if the interested clubs know the terms, contractual details must be clarified, and not least, Sporting must be persuaded not to tighten the requirements further.
With the summer transfer window just getting underway, all signs point to Gyökeres’ future being one of the hottest discussions of the season. He has already proven his goalscoring flair. Now it’s just a matter of seeing who dares to pay the right price.
