The Spanish defender has two suitors in Spanish football.

Eric García’s future could take a new turn this summer, with both Girona and Real Sociedad set to take action for the Catalan defender. Both clubs have put the spotlight on the FC Barcelona centre-back, who has been given more playing time this season under Hansi Flick.

Although he has shown solidity when given the chance, he has not been able to establish himself as an indisputable starter. This has piqued the interest of clubs looking for national talent with immediate adaptability. Barcelona’s position is clear: they will only consider a sale if a bid of 20 million euros comes.

Barcelona are in a good position, they lead La Liga with 67 points after 30 games. Real Madrid are in second place, 4 points behind.

Real Sociedad and Girona want to sign Eric García

Eric has gained more playing time under Flick thanks to his ability to play both in defence and in midfield, which has increased his value in the team. Still, the intense competition at his position prevents him from securing a permanent place, prompting him to consider a change of club in which he could become a key player.

Girona already tried to sign him this winter, but the operation was blocked by the German coach. Nevertheless, the Catalan club has not given up on the idea and sees Eric as an ideal reinforcement to strengthen the defensive line – in a system that prioritises pure play from the back.

Real Sociedad, for its part, wants to strengthen the defensive side before next season and looks positively at the player’s profile, considering his experience in La Liga and age. The final decision will be made in the summer, when both the player and Barcelona consider the bids. If the offer convinces both parties, not only will the player benefit from the transfer – it will also give Barcelona a financial boost.
