It looks like Ruben Amorim has turned things around for Manchester United and that he will stay in as manager for at least the rest of the season.

Dutch manager Erik ten Hag had already put a horrendous season behind him and everyone expected him to be sacked as soon as the 2024/2025 season was over.

Among other things, The Times wrote that Thomas Tuchel was the first choice to take over from Erik ten Hag, but the summer came and went and Tuchel was tired of waiting, when he was offered to take over as England manager from Gareth Southgate, he had no doubts.

Thomas Tuchel was in the running as the new Manchester United manager when Erik ten Hag was hanging loose last autumn, according to information from The Times, among others. United have reportedly contacted Tuchel and explained that he was the club’s first choice if ten Hag were to be sacked.
In the end, however, Tuchel chose to take over the England national team, as he did not want to wait for the potential United job.
Now comes information from the tabloid newspaper The Sun that Tuchel is not relevant to replace Ruben Amorim if United sack their Portuguese coach in the middle of the season. The German has a deal with England’s national team over the 2026 World Cup that he is expected to complete.
According to the newspaper, Tuchel was also not impressed with the process at United when the club chose to wait to sack ten Hag last year.
