On the last day of Easter, the confirmation came. Pep Guardiola’s ball artist, Silva, is letting his contract with Manchester City expire this summer. Not many hours later, three big clubs are linked with the Portuguese 31-year-old, who is anything but done at the top level.
City assistant Pep Lijnders confirmed on Monday that the decision has been made: “When he’s not playing, you’ll see how much he’s missed, but all good stories have an end and I hope he enjoys the last few months – it’s only six weeks – and gets a good farewell. He deserves all the attention.”

“I didn’t like him before. Now I love him. The way he can feel the games and what is needed. There are not many like him,” Lijnders concludes.
Silva has made 450 appearances for City, and three big clubs are reported to be in contact with the 31-year-old. Three clubs with ambitions for the biggest titles agree with the City coach, “there are not many like him”.
