Luca Modric is the player Martin Ødegaard was meant to carry on the legacy of at Real Madrid. The problem was that Modric never showed signs of getting older. AC Milan had a horribly weak 8th place in Serie A last season. With maestro Modric as the midfield general, the Milan club is eight points behind city rivals Inter at the top, but three and six points ahead of 3rd and 4th place.
In the summer, the 40-year-old Modric’s contract expires. According to CalcioMercato , the AC Milan management is convinced of two things. Firstly, Luka Modric is physically and mentally ready for another season at the top level. Secondly, AC Milanneed Modric on the pitch.
The Italian media reports Milan are now working hard to finalize the details of an extension with Modric. Who is unlikely to turn down the offer to continue past his 41st year of life.
