Eight games, one win. On Thursday, the Tottenham players travelled home from Glasgow with a 1-1 draw, it was one German international in particular who heard it from Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.
Timo Werner got one of his few games from the start against Rangers, after forty-five minutes on the pitch the Spurs manager couldn’t bear to see the 29-year-old underdeliver.
“He didn’t play at all at the level he should. He played with 18-year-olds, and such a behavior is not acceptable to me, which I also said to Timo. He is an experienced German national team player,” Poecoglou grumbled.
“In our current situation, we don’t have that many options. I need everyone to at least try their best. His performance in the first half was not acceptable,” the Tottenham manager said, according to Sky Sports.
Timo Werner must at least try. The German has a contract expiring in the summer, the 29-year-old can look far for further commitment. Or playing time, for that matter.
