As we approach the end of the season, Manchester United and Tottenham are both once again on the hunt for the manager who can steer the club back on a course as title contenders. And we’re not talking about cup trophies. The two clubs have wobbled from one coach to another, without meeting expectations. Now an Italian is high on the wish list of both clubs.

It’s nothing new that Roberto de Zerbi is being linked with the biggest Premier League clubs, what the Italian achieved with Brighton after Graham Potter impressed even Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, who both hailed De Zerbi as a brilliant coach.

De Zerbi is now vacant after he and the Marseille owner agreed to “go their separate ways” in the first part of February. According to The Telegraph , De Zerbi is still high on Manchester United’s wish list, now the English media reports that Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit and have been in dialogue with De Zerbi about the coaching job from this summer.

In the last two seasons, we have seen Manchester United struggle well outside the top five in the Premier League, but this time the Red Devils are on the offensive. So when Tottenham are to persuade de Zerbi to work, it will probably have to go all the way to the last few games before their fate in the Premier League is decided. Manchester United have shown more of the potential in their squad heading towards a Champions League ticket, and will not have an “if, if, that” factor in any negotiations with De Zerbi.

According to the Daily Mail , De Zerbi was among the candidates to replace Erik ten Hag back in 2024.
