A miserable season was saved by victory in the Europa League and with it qualification for the Champions League. Now Tottenham are surprising everyone by throwing themselves into the race for Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes.
Real Madrid are open to letting striker Rodrygo Goes leave this summer, but it is not yet clear where he will end up. The Brazilian has so far insisted that he is happy to stay at the club this summer, but with a reduced role next season under Xabi Alonso, he could still be on his way out.
While Los Blancos have to some extent left the decision to Rodrygo – they will not negotiate a sale until he makes a choice – it has also been made clear that they are open to a sale if they receive a good enough offer. While Arsenal were initially seen as the most interested party, Liverpool now seem to be in the lead.
Tottenham Hotspur show interest in Rodrygo
According to Diario AS, Tottenham Hotspur have joined Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal as the next interested party, although Bayern and Arsenal seem to be prioritising other options first. Spurs have promised new manager Thomas Frank investments, and Rodrygo could be part of this. It is not yet clear if Rodrygo is interested, but chairman Daniel Levy will try to negotiate down Real Madrid’s €90 million asking price.
Liverpool contact Rodrygo representatives after talks with Xabi Alonso Alonso
Alonso made it clear during the Club World Cup that Rodrygo only played 73 minutes, and the Basque manager has now told Rodrygo that he will not get much game time next season. While Arsenal’s interest has waned following the signing of Noni Madueke and the imminent transfer of Viktor Gyökeres, Liverpool have recently made contact with Rodrygo’s representatives. They see him as an option if Luis Díaz goes to Bayern Munich. The Reds could use him on the left wing in attack, but no club has so far this summer made direct contact with Real Madrid about a move for Rodrygo.
