Tottenham will complete an already agreed signing in a problem position later today, but it may not be the only transfer.
Tottenham are in dire need of a boost right now, and one way the club can get it is through the transfer market. Left-back is a difficult position for Thomas Frank so far, as Destiny Udogie does not have full confidence. Ben Davies is now well into his thirties, while Djed Spence can contribute, but is originally a right-back.

Therefore, Tottenham agreed with Santos on Friday to sign Brazilian left-back Souza. The 19-year-old player costs 15 million euros. Spurs managed to influence the negotiations after Santos initially asked for €20 million.
Souza has previously been linked with transfers to Newcastle and AC Milan. Souza, who was recently part of Brazil’s U20 squad, has played 38 times for Brazilian giants Santos, scoring one goal and four assists.
According to the latest update from reliable reporter Edu Burgos, Souza will fly to England today to complete the medical test and complete the transfer. On social media, Burgos wrote, “Souza is traveling this Monday to England to undergo the medical tests and sign his contract. Santos and Tottenham have already reached a full agreement for the player. It was finalized [Sunday afternoon]. Five-year contract, until 2031. Santos will receive 15 million euros, both fixed and in bonuses.”
Burgos’ claims were quickly confirmed by Ben Jacobs, who wrote on the same platform: “Souza will fly to England on Monday to complete his €15 million switch to Spurs. A five-year contract has been agreed.”
More activity at left-back?
As mentioned, the left-back position is under scrutiny in North London at the moment, and our internal source, Fraser Fletcher, has been briefed on the uncertainty surrounding Udogie and his long-term future at the club. Last week, Fletcher reported that Tottenham are taking a closer look at Borussia Monchengladbach’s Luca Netz, who will be signed in addition to Souza, and not instead of.
Netz, 22, has been on Spurs’ radar for a while and is ready to become a free agent when his contract expires next summer. However, Tottenham are keen to speed up the process and secure his services as early as this January window. Preliminary talks have taken place, and Tottenham are prepared to make a moderate offer to bring him away from the German team in the middle of the season.
