Kieran McKenna was actually on Manchester United’s radar this summer after he lifted Ipswich Town back to the Premier League, but then former assistant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not want a return to Old Trafford.
This season he has experienced how tough it can be in the Premier League, after 14 rounds they have only collected 9 points. – Despite that, FootballTransfers reports that Kieran McKenna is the first choice should Tottenham choose to sack a sometimes very frustrated manager Ange Postecoglou.
Kieran McKenna who is only 38 years old has impressed thoroughly since he was appointed Ipswich manager back in December 2021, leading the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotion for the past two years.

The Northern Irishman was heavily linked with both Chelsea and Manchester United in the summer, but he opted to sign a new contract at Ipswich, with his current deal at Portman Road now until 2028.

The north London outfit have won just one of their last six games in all competitions – a 4-0 demolition of Manchester City – and McKenna has been identified as the club’s main target.

The Ipswich manager spent seven years in Tottenham’s academy before being forced into early retirement due to a serious hip injury, and after a spell as the club’s Head of Academy Performance Analysis, McKenna became Spurs U18 head coach in 2015.
The Northern Irishman was snapped up by Man Utd the following year, and he eventually became Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s assistant manager at Old Trafford.
After Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, Postecoglou confronted a group of Spurs fans eager to voice their anger at the team’s recent results.
“I didn’t like what was said because I’m a human being, but you have to deal with it,” Postecoglou admitted in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s home game against Chelsea this weekend.
“I’ve been around long enough to know that when things don’t go well, you have to understand the frustration and disappointment.
“They are rightly disappointed tonight because we have let a football game pass us by. I’m ok with all that. They gave me some direct feedback, which I assume has been taken on board.
“All I can say is that I’m very disappointed with tonight and I’m determined to make it right and I will keep fighting until we do.”
