-I would like to come back one day. It will always be a special club for me. This is what Mauricio Pochettino said last year about the club that tipped him out of Tottenham seven months after he led the club to a historic Champions League final. English Goal believes this “one day” needs to come now.
Ange Postecoglou got many supporters enthusiastic in his first season as Spurs manager with his attacking football. It was not enough for a Champions League ticket, but for the Europa League, which last month led to Tottenham’s first title in 17 years. This week it became clear that the Australian, who for the past twelve months has had a drop in the Premier League to an unforgivable 17th place in addition to several conflicts with his own supporters and journalists, was done with the job.

English Goal is as usual quick to analyze their way to the manager they think is the right one, at the top is Mauricio Pochettino. Here is the analysis:
“It’s been six years since Tottenham sacked Mauricio Pochettino, but the nice Argentine opened the door to a sensational return to the club in March, when he told reporters: ‘I would love to come back one day. It will always be a special club for me.” It was a surprising concession given that Pochettino only became USA head coach four months earlier, with the mandate to make the Stars and Stripes real World Cup candidates before the next tournament in North America in 2026.”
“However, Pochettino knows deep down how unrealistic it is after his first eight games in charge of the USMNT. It’s probably a high-profile hot chair for the former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss, but it feels like a temporary solution, and there’s no doubt that he has unfinished business at Tottenham.
“Levy was too quick to sack Pochettino after Spurs’ poor start to the 2019-20 season. He had transformed the team from promising to true Premier League title contenders and Champions League finalists for the past four years, and Tottenham have not come close to reaching the same height since he left.”

“It feels like a matter of course to bring him back. The only downside is that Spurs have to pay a huge compensation sum to get Pochettino out of his contract with U.S. Soccer, and it remains to be seen whether Levy would be willing to make such a financial sacrifice (and admit that he made a mistake in getting rid of him the first time).”
We agree. Bring Pochettino back, Tottenham can’t get anyone better, who also has his heart in the club.
