With Spurs captain Son out of contract in the summer, the player with the widest smile in the Premier League has been linked on his way out. When it was reported that Manchester United were ready to sign free agent Son in the summer, there were probably many Spurs supporters who choked on their morning tea. On Tuesday, the confirmation came that the supporters will not see the captain in the red United shirt.
Heung-Min Son. The energetic Spurs player has been at the London club since 2015 and was part of a brilliant duo with Kane. When the Englishman left the club, it was Son who took over the managerial responsibility. According to GiveMeSport, the United management considered signing the South Korean lightning winger on a free transfer this summer.
The 32-year-old has 169 goals and 90 assists in 431 appearances, the South Korean has been a key player for Spurs season after season. Now, fortunately, there will be more Son in the white shirt.
Tottenham announce on their website that they are exercising an option for a one-year extension. This means that Son has not given any must-away-NOW! feedback to the club.
For Spurs supporters, this means another season with the club’s 4th highest scoring player, the brilliant striker with the most assists in club history. For the supporters, it would probably have been horrifying to see Captain Son in a United shirt.
