On Sunday, Tottenham management pressed the panic button for the second time this season. Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor have both been weighed too lightly. The first as a long-term coaching solution, the second as a savior. Not many hours later, the BBC reports Tottenham are making a push to persuade the first choice not to “wait and see” if there will be relegation.
Ever since Thomas Frank was sacked in mid-February and Roberto de Zerbi was done at Marseille, the former Brighton manager has been heavily linked to the London club. They were aiming for a signing in the summer, after Tudor had lifted the club up from the relegation battle. It didn’t go as planned.

According to the BBC, Tottenham management are in contact with De Zerbi to persuade him to take the job as early as this week. The Italian is said to be open to the possibility, but had set his sights on starting a new job only in the summer.
If De Zerbi takes the job, the holiday is definitely over. There will be a real Englishdogfight at the Premier League arena from the first leg against Sunderland on April 12. There is supposed to be a solid “survival bonus” in the offer that will trigger the coach, who after the Brighton job was linked to several of the biggest coaching jobs.
If De Zerbi agrees to jump in now, it will give a huge boost to players and supporters. Then it is not another short-term solution that is job seeking and “guarantees” survival in the Premier League, but a coach who invests heavily in laying the foundation for his own job also after the end of the season.
