I actually think what Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold says as an explanation for why he is leaving the club at the end of the season and that for once it is not about bigger money somewhere else.
Trent Alexander-Arnold announces today that he is leaving Liverpool and explains the decision in the emotional video you see further down in the article.

Alexander-Arnold, whose contract expires at the end of the season, shared a video on social media in which he confirmed that he is leaving Liverpool. He describes the decision to leave his childhood club as a “personal” decision and mentions his desire for a “new environment” and to “challenge” himself elsewhere.
In his statement, he writes:
**”After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, it is now time for me to confirm that I will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
This is without a doubt the hardest decision I have ever made in my life.
I know that many of you have wondered why, or have been frustrated that I have not talked about this earlier. But my intention was always to stay focused on the team’s best – to secure league title number 20.
This club has been my whole life – my whole world – for 20 years. From the academy until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside the club will always be with me. I will forever be indebted to all of you.” **
Alexander-Arnold added:
**”But I’ve never felt anything else, and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge – to step out of my comfort zone and push myself both professionally and personally.
I have given everything every single day I have been at this club, and I hope you feel that I have made up for it during my time here.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone – my coaches, managers, teammates, support staff and our incredible supporters – for the last 20 years.
I’ve been lucky enough to live out my dreams here, and I will never take for granted the special moments I’ve been lucky enough to share with you all. My love for this club will never die.” **
