When Solskjaer led Besiktas to an impressive 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, La Liga’s 3rd best club, Besiktas supporters knew that there could once again be big moments for the shaky club. This was followed by a draw in the league, a loss to FC Twente away from home, then a strong away win in the Süper Lig. Expectations were high when it was time for a home game for the Eagles on Saturday. With Solskjaer on the sidelines, there was also success. Turkish newspapers praise the “Nordic eagle” for the big changes at Besiktas.
Solskjaer and the Besiktas players got off to a bad start, had to endure backwards in the first half and went in for half-time talk. Here the strategy was honed by Solskjaer and the right pep talk was given. When the referee blew for full-time, the Besiktas supporters could celebrate a 2-1 win and three points, now only one point up on fourth place and a ticket to the Conference League.
After the game, there has been a hail of recognition of the big changes Solskjaer has already achieved at the shaky big club. Here are some clips from Turkish newspapers:
“A Nordic wind is blowing over Besiktas.”
“With the arrival of Solskjaer at Besiktas, the atmosphere in the team has changed completely. The Norwegian coach has had a positive effect on the team in a short time thanks to his energy and strong communication with the players.”
“It’s very clear. Besiktas have regained team spirit with Solskjaer. The body language of the players, their desire to win and the effort they put in is the key to the victories.”
In an interview, Besiktas player Milot Rashica talks about the first weeks with Solskjaer as coach:
“Our coach trusts everyone. Since he arrived, he and his team have reflected this positive energy to us. They show their full support every day,
We love it!
