Morten Mellberg has been in a fight with Fredrik Ljungberg on the training ground in the run-up to the 2002 World Cup. The centre-back has also become known for his tough style of play at Racing Santander, Aston Villa, Juventus and Villarea. Melllberg is still considered one of Sweden’s best centre-backs ever. As a coach, the 47-year-old has been very relevant this autumn.
Mellberg leads Brommapojkarna, but is said to have been offered the opportunity to lead the Swedish national team, which has been on its knees. Various Swedish media claim he turned down the job.

According to Sportsbladet, the gold will be in St. Louis. According to the Swedish media, Mellberg is one of three who have been screened out and a candidate to lead St. Louis City.

Mellberg and his assistant coach will leave Brommapojkarna when their contracts expire at the end of the year, perfect timing for a job in MLS with the goal of titles and feeding USA’s new national team coach Mauricio Pochettino with players.
