There was no highway into Champions League qualification for Bodø/Glimt after the loss against Tottenham in the semi-finals of the Europa League. – But having said that, due to the historic effort, Norway will be awarded advantages in the next qualifying rounds.

Two Glimt players in the Europa League team of the year

Patrick Berg and Fredrik Bjørkan from Bodø/Glimt have been selected for the team of the year in the Europa League by UEFA’s technical observer group.

Patrick Berg is wanted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. – It is not only him, but two Bodø/Glimt players that the Manchester United legend wants to bring to Besiktas. – The other is Danish Kasper Høgh who together with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Olympiakos striker Ayoub El Kaabi became top scorers in the Europa League.

UEFA announced the team on its website, right after Tottenham beat Manchester United in the final at San Mamés Barria in Bilbao. The squad includes four players from Tottenham, two from Manchester United and two from Bodø/Glimt, as well as one player each from Athletic Bilbao, Eintracht Frankfurt and Lyon.

Cristian Romero was named the tournament’s best player, while Rayan Cherki received the Young Talent of the Year award.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has two Bodø/Glimt players on the agenda.

Turkish Fanatik reports that after a meeting between the club president, Solskjaer and newly appointed chief scout Graf, taken from Borussia Dortmund. The big topic of discussion will be how the financially squeezed club will secure the necessary reinforcements before the start of the season.

The Turkish newspaper claims that Besiktas aims to bring in Patrick Berg and Dane Kasper Høgh from their success at Bodø/Glimt. Berg’s “superb positioning” was one of the main factors why Lazio were sent home from Aspmyra with a 2-0 loss, Besiktas desperately need a player like Berg in midfield.

Besiktas has had people in the stands to follow Bodø/Glimt in recent weeks.

– Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær is said to have approved the transfer for Berg. President Serdal Adalı has stated: “The coach wants Berg very much. So do I,” Fanatik writes.

On Sunday, the 3rd place in the Turkish league will be recaptured, then Besiktas will host Rizespor at home at Tüpraş Stadyumu.
