Former Liverpool and Dortmund manager may be tempted by one of the world’s biggest coaching jobs
Jürgen Klopp retired from the managerial profession last year, and his future has been the subject of speculation ever since.
Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund legend Klopp surprised fans when he took a leadership role in one of football’s most disliked multi-club ownership – Red Bull. The German became “Head of Global Soccer” for Red Bull and started in January, but rumours that Klopp is already unhappy and burnt out by the experience seem to be growing.

According to reports, Klopp has a buyout clause in his four-year contract with Red Bull that will allow him to leave his position to become national team coach of Germany. But he is also connected to two of the world’s most sought-after coaching jobs – and open to discussing them.
Although Klopp is bound by his Red Bull contract, and any departure will be complicated, stranger things have happened. According to Bruno Andrade, a sports journalist for Brazilian website UOL, sources close to Klopp believe he would be interested in becoming Brazil national team coach – or, more realistically, accepting Real Madrid’s long-standing admiration.
The situation at Red Bull could decide Klopp’s future
According to talkSPORT, things are not going well for the Red Bull system at the moment:
- Before Klopp’s official start date of January 1, his former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders was fired from Red Bull Salzburg.
- Salzburg had won ten Austrian league championships in a row from 2013 to 2023, but now looks set to be beaten by Sturm Graz.
- Marco Rose – who Klopp once said he “would trust with his life” – was sacked from RB Leipzig in March, and the club is now fighting to keep a top-four position.

Real Madrid or Brazil?
Klopp has been linked to Real Madrid for several years, but “Los Blancos” currently have one of the world’s most respected and merited coaches – Carlo Ancelotti. If Ancelotti leaves the club to take over Brazil or another job, Klopp will undoubtedly be one of the leading candidates.
Brazil are also on the hunt for a new national team manager after Fernando Diniz was sacked, and Klopp’s name has surfaced in the discussions.
After Carlo Ancelotti failed to lead Real Madrid through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and is lagging behind Barcelona in La Liga, while also looking tired, an exit is a little more likely.

Conclusion: Although Klopp is currently tied to Red Bull, either Brazil or Real Madrid could be enough to lure him back into coaching. But first, one of the two dream jobs must become available.
Additional note:
- Klopp has previously stated that he needed a break after leaving Liverpool, but his passion for football could make a comeback inevitable.
- Real Madrid are known for bringing in big names, and Klopp’s charisma and success fit perfectly with the “Galacticos” mentality.
- Brazil are looking for a coach who can revive “Samba football” – and Klopp’s energetic style of play could be a perfect match.
Will Klopp be the next coach of Brazil or Real Madrid? Time will tell. ⚽
