When you’ve grown up in Liverpool and have “everything” as a player, then the fans expect you to give back to the club at the height of your career. Trent Alexander-Arnold chose to leave the club with a Premier League title. On Sunday, Martin Ødegaard and Arsenal were at Anfield to fight for points to secure second place and a Champions League ticket. For Alexander-Arnold, this was to be one of the last meetings with a packed Anfield.
Liverpool rebounded from their “victory rush” loss to Chelsea after the Premier League title was secured against Tottenham. Arsenal narrowly salvaged a point with a 2-2 draw on Sunday. Here, Arne Slot had already made the inevitable change at right-back with Alexander Arnold exiting. Conor Bradley was given the chance from the start to get playing time before next season.

In the 67th minute, Alexander-Arnold got his sign from Arne Slot. Your turn, Trent.
The reactions were very mixed from Liverpool supporters, but the pipe concert probably still rang in Alexander-Arnold’s ears when he went to bed for the evening.
“There are far more people booing and beeping than cheering for Alexander-Arnold,” said former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock on the BBC.
Every time the right-back was close to the ball, the beeping came from a large part of Anfield.
Then came the song: “Steve Gerrard, Gerrard, He’ll pass the ball 40 yards, He’s big and he’s f***ing hard, Steve Gerrard, Gerrard.”
Although Gerrard has lost his way as a coach, he remained loyal to Liverpool throughout his career (in Europe). Unlike Alexander-Arnold.

In the last game of the season, Liverpool face Crystal Palace at Anfield. We can’t quite see that Alexander-Arnold wants another merciless farewell to the Liverpool supporters.
For Arne Slot, this was the first meeting with an Anfield that turned against its own. For the Dutchman, this must have been a strange experience, two weeks after the euphoric title celebration at the same stadium, in front of the same supporters.
