Even though we often shout that “someone has to call Ole Gunnar Solskjaer”, we have faith that Ruben Amorim can make it happen with Manchester United – if he “survives” long enough in the job.
The worst ten first games statistics since 1932 cannot be taken lightly, but at the same time, Amorim has from day one warned that there will be an immediate transition to his football and potential chaos. If the problems are pushed further, they will reappear next season.
After the Wolverhampton loss, Amorim was asked the question that every United manager has been asked since Alex Ferguson, after several poor results: “Are you now afraid of being sacked?”. What is new is that Amorim only got 10 games on the job before the question came.
“Manchester United’s manager can never be comfortable anyway. I know the world I’m in. If we don’t win, all coaches are in danger,” Amorim begins at the press conference.
Before he looks at the journalist and answers: -And I like that too, because it’s our job, and I understand the question well.
“You could say I’ve been here for a month. We’ve had a few trainings, but we’re not winning. That’s the reality, and I’m okay with that,” Amorim parries.
