After a tenacious 6th place finish in the Ligue 1 2022/23 season, Monaco have risen in the last two seasons with 2nd and 3rd place in the league, both with Champions League tickets. This summer, the club signed from the principality a ball artist with no match training since September 2023 and a Barcelona player, who four years ago was assigned Messi’s shirt number directly after the Argentine’s exit, plus a buyout clause of 1 billion euros, only to end up on the bench after injuries. Three weeks before the start of the season, there is great excitement for Paul Pogba’s and Ansu Fati’s debuts for Monaco.

Out serving a doping penalty, Paul Pogba has been self-training until signing with Monaco at the end of June. Now the Monaco coach gives a status report on Pogba’s and 22-year-old Fati’s form. It’s about training the two players, in order to be ready for the match arena at all. So far with pre-season matches for Monaco, the duo has not been close to being ready to play.

“I want [Fati] to come back as soon as possible, but as we said at the beginning of the season, we have to be careful with Ansu. We have to get him in shape. It doesn’t make sense for him to get back on the pitch as soon as possible only to get injured or get into trouble. We do everything we can for him. I’m happy with the current squad and we’ll see when Ansu comes back,” coach Adi Hütter began, according to Goal.

-And the same goes for Paul. It can get complicated. I think that in ten or fifteen days he will be more present in training. For the time being, he is evaluating his treatment. Little by little, we hope to be able to bring him closer to the team. He knows football and is a player at a high level. We have to get him fit so that he can play good football while respecting our principles,” says the Monaco coach.

We like that Pogba and Fati get the opportunity to play their way back, but it doesn’t sound like the Monaco fans need to hold their breath for the duo to strengthen the team. This will not happen anytime soon, or second.
