Despite signing a new contract last year, the legendary Anfield player has confirmed that he will leave the club after the 2026/27 season.
The Liverpool striker confirmed the decision on his X-account, with Salah writing: “Hello everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell: I’m leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”
“I want to start by saying that I could never have imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become a part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a story. It is a spirit. I can’t put it into words for anyone who is not part of this club.”
“We have celebrated victories. We have won the most important trophies. And we have fought together through the most difficult time of our lives.”
“I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this club during my time here, especially my teammates, both past and present. And to the supporters: I don’t have enough words.”
“The support you have shown me through the best time of my career and that you stood by me in the toughest moments. It’s something I’ll never forget, and something I’ll always take with me.”
“It’s never easy to leave. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home, for me and for my family.”
“Thank you for everything. Thanks to all of you, I will never walk alone.”

Salah’s exit has been expected, especially considering that clubs from the Saudi Pro League are desperate to sign the 33-year-old.
Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in June 2017 and has recorded a remarkable 255 goals and 122 assists in a total of 435 appearances for the club.
His legacy at Anfield is fully entrenched, having won two Premier League titles, as well as the Champions League twice – although the Reds are still in contention to make it three this season.
What a way to end that would be!
