At the beginning of October, it was a very happy Bochum director who could tell the supporters that they now had a saviour in place. Uwe Rösler had accepted the job of lifting the proud 2. Bundesliga club out of the relegation battle, a coach the Bochum director described as: “He impressed us in our talks with his experience and authority. We hope that he can give the team stability, so that we can have a more stable position in the league as soon as possible”. The director was right, so to the extent right. On Saturday, former Lillestrøm coach Rosler’s attacking football resulted in history being written.

Against home side Greuther Fürth, Bochum scored three goals in the first 17 minutes of the game. That’s something Bochum has only achieved once before in their previous 1857 professional football matches! In December 1989, Bochum led 3–0 after 16 minutes in the Bundesliga during the 4–1 win against Hamburg. Now Uwe Rösler has done it again!

With the win, Rösler has now lifted Bochum to 12th place in the table after fourteen games, a few points above the relegation battle. In addition, the 8th round of the DFB-pokal awaits against Germany’s 6th best club, Stuttgart, on December 3. This ticket came after a surprising 0-1 win against Bundesliga club Augsburg.

Uwe Rosler is really on the offensive!
