The headline is a slight exaggeration, but the money from the sale of one-year-old Jones El-Abdellaoui to Celta Vigo is exactly what Vålerenga needs back in the Eliteserien.
VG writes that Celta Vigo, before bonuses and add-ons, pays the Oslo club 5 million euros for the Norwegian/Marcan right winger, who in the 2023 season was with KFUM up in the Eliterien on loan and last season returned, did the job for Vålerenga.
Next stop La Liga
El-Abdellaoui got his big breakthrough for VIF in the Obos league with 13 goals and four assists in 26 games and was named the OBOS league’s young player of the year 2024. (Was probably involved in raising the price somewhat)
He has a total of seven games and one goal in the Eliteserien divided between 2022 and 2023.
Now the 18-year-old is packing his bags at full speed to go down to Spain and complete both the appointment and the medical test.
Claudio Giráldez has been personally involved in getting a deal for the Vålerenga jewel.
Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez has since he moved up to the job from being boss of the B team and before that the club’s youth investment in March last year, invested a lot in young players.
