It has been clear for a while that 26-year-old Vegard Kongsro (just called the king) wanted to go out into the big world. The left-back, who has played for a number of Norwegian clubs, joined HamKam from Bodø/Glimt on a deal worth €120,000 on March 20, 2022.
Mjøsklubben has after a weak final sport landed down in 12th place in the Eliteserien, for a long time HamKam was well up in the second half of the table.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone in and around the club who has contributed to a very good time in Kamma throughout my three seasons. HamKam has been an incredibly fun and educational stay in my career,” says Kongsro in a statement to HamKam’s pages.
Now he lands in Switzerland, the country that hooks up Norwegian billionaires with promises of low taxes and legal access to prostitutes.
Yverdon Sport has hired a new head coach in Paolo Tramezzani over Christmas and according to VG made the good choice to bring in the Norwegian left-back Vegard Kongsro, who in a few hours will be finished with his contract with HamKam.
There were a total of 92 games and eight goals for Kongsro in HamKam, who will now be teammates with former Molde player Magnus Grødem. Magnus Grødem joined the club almost a year ago. Yverdon Sport is currently in 10th place in the Swiss Super League.
Sports director Jørgen Bjørn praises the player who is looking for new adventures.
– Vegard has had a great development during his time in HamKam. He is a nice boy who now wants to try his hand abroad. We wish the King the best of luck, and hope to see him back at Briskeby when he goes home to Norway again,” he says to hamkam.no.
