Just one week after the transfer window opened, it is already clear that the transfer saga surrounding Sporting star Gyökeres could be one of the biggest news of the summer.
The highly valued 27-year-old has been heavily linked with several of Europe’s biggest clubs, especially in the Premier League, where both Liverpool and Arsenal are said to be interested.
But now a new club has emerged as a potential candidate to secure Gyökeres’ signature, creating an interesting situation for the star striker.
Decision time pressure
With just one week left until the Club World Cup kicks off in the United States, clubs have just two days to sign players in the special transfer window that opened early before the tournament.
This means that if Gyökeres wants a quick transfer, he will have to decide which club he wants to join in the next few days.
If not, the Swedish international will have to wait until the regular summer transfer window opens on June 16 to secure a move to one of the many clubs hoping to sign him this summer.

Saudi interest
According to journalist Santi Aouna, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal has now emerged as a potential candidate for Gyökeres’ signature.
Aouna claim that the Saudi side are on the hunt for a new striker this summer, and Gyökeres is one of the top names on their wish list.
While it is not known exactly what Al Hilal is willing to offer Gyökeres, it is almost certain that he will have the opportunity to earn significantly more than at any other club he is linked with.
As of now, the club’s highest-paid player is former Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who according to Capology earns a whopping £562,260 a week.
More stars on the radar
However, Gyökeres is not the only big name the Saudi giants have reportedly contacted this summer. Aouna claims that Victor Osimhen, Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, Jadon Sancho and Heung-min Son are also part of their wish list.
Now it remains to be seen whether Gyökeres chooses a quick transfer to Saudi Arabia, or if he waits for the opportunity to play in one of Europe’s top leagues.
