Casemiro has announced that he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season, and can do so with his head held high. This comes after periods of massive criticism of the performances and ridiculed by Premier League legends as way over the top. In the past year, it is not only Casemiro’s wife who hails her husband as a legend, the veteran has helped lift the entire United team to third place in the Premier League. The problem for United supporters is that they now do not want to start next season without their midfield general and finisher.

Against Aston Villa on Sunday, Casemiro started the ball at Old Trafford with an elegant goal, in what ended with a 3-1 win against. The cheers for the Brazilian were almost deafening at Old Trafford. Now many are calling for a contract extension.

Casemiro’s £350,000-a-week has been described as a burden on the wage budget, Ratcliffe and the gang are working hard to cut costs, but in recent months Casemiro’s impact on United in the Premier League arena has been huge.

After the win against Villa, Carrick was asked about Casemiro.

“It’s difficult to say anything until something has been decided. Everyone understands the situation. But his influence on the team has been fantastic, and the connection with the supporters is strong. It was a good moment for him today,” Carrick said.

The hyperactive transfer journalist Romano nevertheless opens the door ajar for a continuation.

-Casemiro has already decided to move on right now. What I can tell you, and what I can say to the Manchester United fans, is that no one from the club has said to Casemiro: ‘Please stay with us for one more season’. Let’s see what happens from now until the end of the season. Maybe such situations can arise at the very end of the season, when you may be sure of the project you are going to do and continue with as a manager, Champions League football and all the rest. But at the moment, nothing has changed between Casemiro and United,” Romano says on his YouTube channel.
