BILD reports in the morning hours today that Crystal Palace are strongly interested in a January transfer for Bayern Munich defender Sacha Boey and have put in place their apparatus to make it happen.

This season, the atmosphere at Selhurst Park has gone up and down like a matter of what results are coming. – Crystal Palace are in 9th place in the Premier League and play well in half of the games they play.

Crystal Palace have already held club-to-club talks over the Frenchman, as they look to bolster Oliver Glasner’s squad with a new right-back at the turn of the year.

It is believed that Palace have set their sights on Boey before the January transfer window reopens, and that his departure from Bayern is considered a realistic possibility due to his limited game time this season.

The 25-year-old, who was signed from Galatasaray in January last year, is under contract with the German club until the summer of 2028.

Crystal Palace hold talks about Boey

Bayern are willing to sell Boey in January if they receive a financially attractive offer, as the right-back has recently struggled to get game time.

Boey has been an unused substitute in five of Bayern’s last six games across all competitions, and his only appearance was a three-minute substitute in the 4-1 win over Cologne in the cup.

The “exceptional” 25-year-old has made 14 appearances under head coach Vincent Kompany this season, with six starts and none in the Champions League, where Bayern suffered a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this week.

Boey was limited to just six Bundesliga starts due to injury problems last season, with two separate setbacks disrupting his first full season in Germany.

BILD claims that Oliver Glasner’s “special connection” with Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund could help enable a transfer for Boey in January, as the pair know each other very well from their time together at Austrian club RB Salzburg.

Palace need depth at right-back

It’s no surprise to see Palace being linked with a mid-season transfer for Boey, considering how much Daniel Muñoz has been used at right-wing-back this season.

The Colombian international has played almost every minute of Palace’s Premier League and Conference League games this season, making 21 appearances across all competitions.

With Nathaniel Clyne turning 35 in April, the Eagles could benefit greatly from adding another quality option on the right side, and a move for Boey would be a step in that direction.

The 25-year-old would bring extensive top-level experience to Selhurst Park, with over 100 appearances in the top divisions of French, German and Turkish football.

Oliver Glasner hints at January plans

Glasner recently hinted that Crystal Palace could be busy when the January transfer window opens, as he admitted that the Eagles need another goal source alongside top scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta.

After the 2-1 loss to Strasbourg in the Conference League, the Austrian tactician stated that Palace will aim to bring in reinforcements in attack at the turn of the year.
