Former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has for the past seventeen years brought in various coaches to secure the club titles. Mauricio Pochettino came closest, but the Argentine was dumped a few months after the Champions League final against Liverpool. Last season, the success finally came with a Europa League title, the first title in 17 years. Ange Postecoglou was behind the feat, but was rewarded with the sack after prioritising the Europa League and finishing 17th in the Premier League. Now the Australian is back in the Premier League, he believes he was misunderstood at Tottenham.
Nottingham Forest owner Marinakis sacked Nuno Santo and hired Postecoglou in the same week, the message to the supporters is clear: This is a coach who gives us a title. The way to get there is less important. The Tottenham players loved Postecoglou, while the supporters and club management did not understand the coach’s tactical choices.

“I love to win. I love winning things, that’s what I’ve done. I want the fans to be excited to see the team play. I think there’s already an existing mentality in the group about working hard for each other, and you know, I want to capitalize on that. And from my point of view, it’s now about implementing my own ideas,” Postecoglou begins, according to Goal.
“It’s no secret that I like my teams attacking. I love that my teams score goals. It’s sometimes misunderstood as me playing one way, but the reason I want my teams to play that way is because I love to win things and that’s what I want to do here,” Ange Postecoglou said, according to Goal.
The Australian told Tottenham supporters throughout last season that he always delivers his club a title in the second season. It also came for Spurs. Now the title has been ordered in Nottingham, Postecoglou will be able to do it his way.
