With no debut in Manchester United’s senior team, Alvaro Carreras was sent on loan in January 2024. Benfica hired the young Spaniard for the rest of the season, but quickly found out that the left-back had impressive potential. Last summer, Portuguese giants signed Carreras on a permanent transfer from United for €6 million. Already three months into the season, the scouts from two La Liga giants were sitting in the stands. On Monday, Carreras signed with the giant Real Madrid.

Real confirmed the signing on Monday, on Tuesday Carreas will be presented as a new player. The left-back will sign a six-year contract, with Benfica bringing in €50 million, according to reports from Lisbon.
For Alvaro, this will be “coming home”. Prior to academy games for Manchester United from 2020, young Alvaro had three years at Real Madrid’s academy.
