The hero from when Norway was in the World Cup last time Kjetil Rekdal is on sick leave indefinitely. Aalesund Football Club has today sent out a press release that he has undergone cancer surgery.

In late summer, Kjetil Rekdal was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the fact that this has been a tough message to receive, he has chosen to stay partly in work this autumn.

“He has not wanted any focus on the disease, to give the team and himself the best possible peace of mind and the opportunity for good performances. Rekdal has now undergone surgery, the prognosis is good and he hopes to be back as soon as possible,” the club writes.

Aalesund landed in 4th place in the OBOS-League this season.

Rekdal asks to be quiet until he is back at work. – We wish everyone a good recovery and look forward to having him back on the sidelines.
